This is a crucial question alright and it's a tricky one - 'we cannot become rich by counting our neighbour's gold even if we count ceaseless day and night', so the saying goes, and I think this applies to peace or stillness too. We want to copy others but their stillness is not our own. We can be an influence on others but can we 'guide'? That's not a rhetorical question, I really don't know! I had the thought yesterday that perhaps what is necessary is to see very clearly than the answer can never come from outside of us (that there is no external authority, as K says) and then - when we see this - awareness will come all by itself from within. Ram Dass says that the prerequisite for awakening is absolute despair and I take this to mean despair about any external authority helping us, or any method helping us.
